I stayed up past my bedtime last night to wait for the President's address regarding the killing of you know who. I can't mention his name cuz then everyone who googles it will end up on my blog and they would definitely be disappointed with their search results. So...........anyway, I'm missing regular U.S. news. Al-Jazeera is repeating the same footage over and over. I guess other stations would be doing the same thing but I'm going to the gym and will see for myself. (Great incentive to get exercising)
I warned of randomness so here it goes:
It has been brought to my attention by one of my offspring who will remain unidentified that I am old. I will present evidence to support my argument that "old" does not apply to me. (At least not to my spirit)
1. I can ride shotgun on a big tractor driving through the field at full speed and not fall off. (Done just 2 days ago)
2. I can out-dance all 3 of my daughters when we hold our Indian music dance parties when the boys are all at the gym. I may not have the moves, but I do have the energy.
3. I can wake up before sunrise and have the whole nightly kitchen mess cleaned up before my lazy bum children who made the mess are even stirring for the morning.
4. I can wrestle an unruly goat to the milk stand and perch on a little baby seat to milk that goat, followed by releasing her and her dumba** kids back into the field. (Done just 12 hrs ago)
5. I can take a kickboxing/fitness class taught by an MMA guy with tattoos and not look like a total idiot. (OK- I look like a partial idiot, but I can still do it)
6. I power walk faster than almost everyone I know. My kids can't keep up with me at the mall.
7. I can help dig fenceposts and mend fences (I love to say that since it applies literally and figuratively)
Well, I could go on but I'm just too modest to brag any further. You get the picture. I have made my point.
I plan to leave for the gym shortly and work out this morning followed by a glorious respite in the Arizona heat room. I dream of this room regularly and last night when I went to bed and my feet took extra long to warm I thought of the first day we'll have when it will be so hot and sunny that I can warm my lizard body until I feel human. That first warm from the real sun (not the fake one at the gym) brings tears to my eyes literally. It's not fun to feel reptilian, expecially since I'm not a fan of the reptiles.
I also have to cook a mega dinner since tonight is wrestling night which means my little Labne will be coming over for dinner. For the second time since I've met Labne I told Ali that he couldn't come over to eat. Jenna didn't feel well and was laying on the couch and I just didn't feel like company. Well, that day in school Labne and Yousef had been in film interpretation class and watched a movie about 9/11. I'm not sure what it was but Yousef said it was slightly offensive since they showed Muslims praying before they showed the terrorists doing their thing. Well, little Labne looked over at Yousef and said something like, "This isn't right how they're showing your religion. If you want I'll go with you to talk to Hoke" (their teacher). "Your family's the nicest family I ever met" and so on. He told Yousef he loved him like a brother and Yousef said he almost cried. Keep in mind this guy is quite large and quite black and could possibly look a little intimidating in the right situation. He seems to have a heart of gold though and when I tell him not to hurt my boys in wrestling he just says "no ma'am, I wouldn't". I'll never turn little Labne away from a hot dinner again.
It looks like it's going to rain any minute now. I will try not to weep.
